On The Boat: Dunedin to Dunedin Via the SubAntartic

This exhibition presents new paintings by award-winning Dunedin artist Janet de Wagt, inspired by her recent voyage aboard Ponant Explorations’ Le Soléal. The journey traced a passage through New Zealand’s remote Subantarctic islands, including the Snares, Ulva, Auckland, and Campbell Islands.

Renowned for her plein air practice, de Wagt is accustomed to working directly with the landscape in all conditions.
The journey formed part of the Arts Aboard residency, in partnership with the Southland Art Foundation and the works will be exhibited during the Wild Dunedin Festival 2026
