The Wild Dunedin team is delighted to welcome Sia Aston, Deputy Director‑General, Public Affairs for the Department of Conservation, to open the festival with a keynote address that sets the scene for the week ahead.
For tonight’s festival opening event, the 7x7 speakers were invited to reflect on the theme of sustainability. This concept recognises our growing understanding of the natural world and the vital importance of kaitiakitanga – environmental stewardship. The speakers will highlight the adaptations required in a changing environment and the strength of communities working together to protect biodiversity and restore ecosystems, whether through active intervention or approaches such as rewilding.
Presenters
